Ouch in two ways – being shut out and Avery’s shoulder. Geez, when I said goals would be hard to come by, I didn’t think we would get blanked (by Gerber no less!) Actually the game was zip – zip, except for that 58 second span in the first. Renney wisely called a time out, and calmed everyone down. The loss of Avery is more damaging to the collective formula of the Rangers. Last year he was one of the reasons we even got to the playoffs, and then he was downright disruptive against the Thrasers in the first round of the playoffs. The kids (Staal and Dubinsky) didn’t get benched , but Mara did. His replacement, Strudwick, stepped up and fought Neil for his hit on Avery. Some say it was illegal, I think it was a clean hit. Avery just had his head down looking for the puck. Wrong place, wrong time.
