Hot Damn!

31 10 2008

Hot being the key word…well unless you’re a beaver then dam would be…Best start in the team’s history!!! Can we look ahead to june yet…possibly. I can’t, due to my obsessive superstitions, but you can. I still can’t believe we got Zherdev for what we did….still waiting for the other shoe to drop on him, cause it’s too good to be true. He hustles, scores, has a bunch of assists & and his teamates seem to like him. I wonder what went wrong in Columbus with him.

If you missed the fight in the first few minutes of the game, come back later and I will have it posted under “Dropping the Gloves”….it was a looong fight between Orr and Boulton.

Shanny was told to look elsewhere for employment. A good move from the Ranger’s standpoint.

Jessiman was traded yesterday to Nashville for futures.

Rissmiller Placed on Waivers

22 10 2008

Well, I guess nobody was interested in a trade with the Rangers for one of the extra forwards they were lugging around. I figured Sjostrom would have some trade value, or the Rangers didn’t want to part with him……either way, he survived. Fritsche and Prucha appear to have landed the “extra forwards” moniker. Now the Blueshirts have a spot open to,  a) call up or b) trade for, an extra defenseman. Maybe we will see Fahey or Potter back with the big boys…

A-very Special Night at MSG

20 10 2008

Avery is back at MSG tonight! He was my favorite Ranger from the past couple of seasons. Do we miss him team-wise? I don’t think so. He seems to have the life span of a Mike Keenan, 2-3 years, and then push him out the door. We milked him for what he was worth, then let him run to Dallas (who was stupid enough to pay him a 4 yr. 15.5 million contract!!!).  I liked him, but he’s surely not worth that kind of dough. Instead, we have Aaron Voros who is tied for 3rd in the league with 9 total points;and 4th in the league with 5 goals. He is much bigger, and can block the opposing goalies view without those hand-waving shenanigans that had hockey purists convulsing. I’m sure tonight, when both teams hit the ice, Avery will be flapping his gums trying to antagonize the Blueshirts. Supposedly, he and Lundqvist weren’t exactly best buddies, so we’ll have to see what happens on Hank’s doorstep…

5-0…Who’d a thunk it!

14 10 2008

Alright enough is enough. I tend to lean on the superstitous side…so much so, that I will fall over any minute. I was afraid to write anything after that great opening weekend in Prague. Now, I break my silence! I figured, 2-0, they will probably let me down on the third game…nope; well maybe the 4th game….nay; perhaps the 5th game, surely it’ll happen the 5th game cause it’s against the Devils…what a way to let us down. NOPE. So here we are 5-0 in the young season, wondering when the other skate will drop. Let’s face it, did any of you think we would start 5-0…seriously…..no….I didn’t either. We have a much speedier team, and a power play that doesn’t bank on one guy (who was always in the slot, or on the half boards). Now that Jagr is gone, other teams don’t have to shut down one guy, but a WHOLE TEAM!!! I am pleasantly surprised so far…

On a sad note, Ranger prospect Cherapanov collapsed during a game and then passed away shortly thereafter…
